Project description
How can we build an interactive web dashboard that shows reliable insights?
Context
Waarneming provides a smartphone app where people around the Netherlands can upload their findings of a certain species, bundled with information about their location and their activity. This tool is available to all, and so this results in bias around the information that Waarneming is receiving from these observations.
One other issue is regarding the dashboard that is present on their website. Right now, the data that is shown is not up to their standards, and would like to have an improved version with features similar to ones that they have collected in previous research, surrounding the good design of dashboards.
Results
We managed to build a dashboard prototype that uses the client's preferred framework, Dash for Python, which proves to be a more lightweight option than PowerBI or Tableau, that can also use big data-sets without any hiccups.
Our research into bias mitigation established a clear direction that the client could follow to achieve their final goal.
