Project description
This project focuses on transforming sensor-based rest and activity data into clear, easy to understand insights for caregivers working in nursing homes. Many digital dashboards currently present complex graphs that are challenging to interpret, especially during busy shifts.
The project was shaped in close collaboration with nurses and caregivers, who shared their daily challenges, expectations, and frustrations with digital tools. Through interviews, user testing and feedback sessions, their input directly informed every design decision. Instead of relying on charts or data-heavy screens, the solution uses colours, icons and short explanations to show what has changed and why it matters.
Context
UX Design and Healthcare
Results
By applying a human-centred design approach, the prototype aims to support caregivers in making quick and confident decisions, improving quality of care and residents’ wellbeing.
About the project group
A graduate student at Fontys ICT is in the final phase of the bachelor programme and works independently on a graduation assignment rooted in professional practice. The assignment addresses a concrete ICT-related challenge and requires the integration of technical knowledge, research skills, and professional competencies.
During the final semester, the student analyses a real-world problem, develops and implements a substantiated solution, and reflects critically on both the process and the outcome. As part of the graduation moment, the student presents and demonstrates their work at Innovations Insight, explaining the relevance, approach, and results to a diverse audience of professionals, students, and teachers. This presentation forms an essential part of the assessment and demonstrates the student’s readiness to enter the ICT profession.
