Project description
Our project is focused on developing a software which controls the PLC of the methanation installation to ensure safe and reliable operations of methane production.
Context
The project is part of a bigger project called Groenvermogen which is focused on transforming fossil-based society and industry into a sustainable energy system. The task that our stakeholders took is to create green methane gas from solar powered methanation installation. In our task, we worked together with an internship student who worked on another software which takes weather predictions to see whether the sunlight for that day is sufficient to produce methane and create a methane production schedule based on that prediction.
Results
We created a software which is able to communicate with a remote computer outside of the installation to receive methane production schedule based on weather predictions, this schedule is then translated as commands for the PLCs in the installation to control the methane production. A dashboard was created to visualise the status of the whole installation.
