Knowledge hub in the
Brainport region

Journalism is under a magnifying lens in a digitalizing world. How does the discipline maintain itself in a world of algorithms, clickbait, fake news, deep fakes and online revenue models? And could AI help? That is the question Danielle Arets, lecturer in Journalism and Innovation, is concerned with. During the 6th episode of AI Garage she talks about it with host Erdinç Saçan.

It is not without reason that the Fontys ICT InnovationLab is located at Strijp T, in the middle of Eindhoven and the beating heart of the Brainport region. The choice for such a location has everything to do with the changing role of education, in connection with the professional field and society. In order to map the effects and development of this, ongoing research is being done into the spatial impact of this unique hybrid learning environment on the users, but also on the neighbours. This is showing many positive signs, and there are also opportunities here.

What happens when you place a knowledge and innovation hub in the middle of a business location? After all, the potential seen in an integration of education, research and business is exactly why the Fontys ICT InnovationLab settled at Strijp T in 2019, in the middle of an ecosystem of innovative companies. That relationship, connection and impact is one of the topics that the ongoing research into the Lab's impact focuses on. Simply put: what do the neighbours actually think? In the summer of 2021, they were questioned about this. The findings are positive and there are also many opportunities.

What can a digital twin mean for an industrial process? The Smart Industry Twin project makes this clear for SMEs.
