Project description
The main question for our project was: How can a modular game designer be created to allow varying collaborative and serious games under one system? We have managed to accomplish a start on this by coming up with a way of creating multiple games with a singular backend structure and applying it to the existing COMMONS game.
Context
COMMONS is a board game designed by a team of researchers at Fontys Sport en Bewegen. The game is meant to encourage discussion and sharing ideas in order to help companies and teams make complex decisions. DVERSE is a concept for a social network that combines human and AI interaction, the creators of which have proposed a collaboration with COMMONS. The goal is not just to implement their game onto this new space, but to give creators the tools to design similar games.
Results
We applied Entity Component System principles to the COMMONS game, allowing us to turn parts of the game into abstract components to use for future different games. We also included statistics into our COMMONS game, allowing for further insights into the players votes.
