Project description
The project aims to explore if the camera cutout system could replace the traditional solutions used in 3D third-person games while improving immersion, performance and player visibility.
Context
The project required to have a cutout system recreated and improve it through user feedback. With the focus of understanding if it could replace the traditional solutions in 3D third-person games and how player feel overall about this kind of a system.
Results
The results were interesting, as most people don't see any problems with the current traditional solutions, but would love to see the system in more games, when applicable, as it makes it more immersive. Small portion of people don't really like the cutout but overall many players seems to prefer it. Developers would also like to be able to use it for their own games, but the system is limited to Adventure RPG titles, since otherwise it wouldn't fit the game world (in most cases).
