Project description
Real-time leaderboard dashboard that displays scores from arcade machines on a large screen in arcade rooms.
Context
Gamestate is the largest provider of arcade entertainment in Europe, operating more than 60 locations across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, and other countries. Every day, thousands of visitors play a wide variety of arcade games and achieve personal, local, national, and potentially even global high scores.
Currently, these scores are generated by the machines but are not centrally tracked, visualized, or used to enhance the customer experience. Despite the competitive nature of arcade gaming, there is no unified leaderboard system that connects players across locations or highlights top performances.
This project explores the opportunity to transform existing gameplay data into a public-facing leaderboard dashboard that increases engagement, competition, and return visits while complying with privacy and GDPR regulations.
Results
The project is a proof of concept that delivers a final product as a web application. The final version was reviewed and approved by the stakeholder and tested in a similar environment with test participants. The product meets stakeholder requirements and delivers a solution for the arcade rooms, that increases engagement.
