Project description
The project aims to design an AI tool that creates cultural personas to represent different employee perspectives. The tool helps HR test policies and approaches before using them, simulating differences in communication, trust, and decision-making. It helps managers understand employees better and design inclusive, effective HR policies.
Context
CSU is a large company in cleaning and elderly care in the Netherlands, with over 17,000 employees from more than 130 nationalities. This creates a multicultural workforce with challenges like language barriers, cultural differences, and difficulty collecting feedback from all employees.
Results
The most important outcome of this project is a modern, AI-powered tool that helps create a more inclusive and fair work environment at CSU. The tool is transparent and follows the rules and laws for using AI in the workplace. It uses data inspired by well-known researchers such as Liao & Thomas and Erin Meyer to detect and interpret cultural differences. This helps HR design policies that take into account the many nationalities working at CSU. Validation and feedback showed that the tool supports CSU’s values of inclusion, fairness, and employee well-being, and helps HR test and improve policies before implementing them.
