Project description
The project focuses on researching how AI can be integrated into satellite imagery analysis to provide more accurate estimates of solar radiation.
Context
The goals of the project include gaining insights into how satellite imagery can be effectively utilized to assess and predict solar radiation. This involves establishing based upon which factors are the most insightful for creating an analysis. Once the most efficient approach towards the interpretation of the information and calculation of the solar energy is confirmed, the following goal of the assignment is to integrate AI components for more accurate predictions. The overall goal of this project is the optimization of the solar panel placement and solar energy production in the Netherlands with the help of precise radiation predictions. This will further support the sustainability goals of the Netherlands to increase renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions by providing valuable insights.
Results
The expected result of this project is the development of a map-like web application that will provide satellite imagery analysis based on a selected region and time. The backend will consist of an AI model working with historical data, based on which predictions will be made.
