Project description
1. Design a 360 movie to enable people who are invested with people that have epilepsy in Kempenhaeghe to better understand the impact of epilepsy on someone's daily life with VR glasses.
2. Design an AR experience to enable people who are invested with people that have epilepsy in Kempenhaeghe to better understand the impact of epilepsy on someone’s daily life with experiential learning.
Context
Kempenhaeghe has created a workshop to make people more aware of what it's like to have epilepsy. They have created a few exercises that give a certain feeling to the person, but they did not have a way to visualize it. That is why they came to us, to help create a more visual addition for their workshop. We did this using VR and AR to give people a better idea on how it is to life with epilepsy.
Results
The overal goal was to make people more aware about epilepsy and the difficulties it brings to those peoples lives. With this in mind we created two different results:
360° movie,
We have created a 360 VR video where you look through the eyes of an epileptic person. At the start you're sitting on the bench enjoying nature, but slowly you start seeing more effects of a seizure. Eventually this even escalates to a full black out. The goal of this experience is not about having a seizure, but being more aware of the difficulties epileptic patients have.
AR experience,
Another result is an AR demo reel. We made use of the Meta Quest 3 passthrough and used it to showcase possible audiovisual scenario's. These scenario's are seen by some people that can feel a seizure coming. This reel contains 4 reels:
- Colourful blotches,
- Gray vision,
- High pitched peep,
- Tunnelvision/vignette
