Project description
The main goal of the project was reducing the cycle time of a system which first scans items on a pallet and then performs calculations to determine where to tell a robot arm to pick up the items from one table and where to place it on a conveyor belt.
Context
The project is in the field of Robotics and Automation as it is a system that scans items using a vision system, which then would give instructions to a robot arm on where to pick up the piece, what items to pick it up and where to place it on a conveyor belt.
Results
The main outcomes of this project is to speed up the cycle time from when the vision system scans the items to giving coordinates of where to place the item on the conveyor belt, which can be done through numerous ways such as finding a better calculation method and performing the calculations on the GPU. Other outcomes that is good to have is a GUI for the vision system and decoupled system.
