PSV Player Popularity Index and Visualiser (Group 1)
Project description
This project involves the development of a real-time, interactive web dashboard designed to track and analyze the popularity of PSV players. By leveraging advanced data analytics, the platform translates vast amounts of online activity into actionable insights for club management and marketing teams.
Context
The PSV Popularity Dashboard is a web-based dashboard that helps PSV Eindhoven understand player popularity by combining football performance data, social media engagement, fan sentiment, and sponsorship exposure in one central place.
The dashboard visualises how player popularity changes over time and links these changes to matches, events, media activity, and sponsor visibility. This supports data-driven decision-making for marketing, media, and sponsorship teams and reduces manual work across departments.
The project is developed as part of the PSV Player Popularity Index & Visualiser in collaboration with PSV Eindhoven and Citric Labs.
Results
We created an overview page with the most important metrics, such as sentiment gauge, sentiment journey and social media insights. Additionally, we developed an AI powered feature that tracks sponsor logo appearances on PSV social media channels and displayed these metrics on a dedicated page.
About the project group
We are a group of open learning students with different backgrounds and skills. Although the project mainly focuses on software development and data analysis, each group member was able to find a role that suited their strengths. Through good communication and an open-minded attitude, we also explored additional topics such as AI and data visualization. This collaboration helped us work efficiently and learn from each other throughout the project.
