Project description
How to create an installation which is interactive and can be used by thousands of people walking on the GLOW route?
Context
The project was primarily focused on concept development throughout the semester, where the main goal was to research, explore, and refine the interactive experience and technical possibilities of the installation. During this phase, the concept evolved through iterative design decisions and experimentation. By the end of the semester, the concept had been fully developed and validated, allowing us to transition into the production phase, where we began building and realising the installation.
Results
The final concept was an interactive installation in which users walked through a portal and were scanned before appearing on a large screen as an atom. As participants moved through the installation, representing a dynamic network, their atom moved with them in real time. When two participants formed a combination and one of them left the installation, the system merged the two atoms into a single new atom, visualising the connection and transformation between users.
By the end of the process, we had fully finalised the concept and started building the installation.
About the project group
The group is a mix of different educational background, as it exists out of semester 2, 4 and 6 students. Every student is a part of the Delta Excellence program at Fontys, which makes the adaptable in the situation to work with the needed technologies.
Projectwise, the project was done on 2 days during the week. Mostly on Mondays and Thursdays. Where the group worked on creating the concept of the installation and prepared the building phase to continue the project in the next semester.
