Project description
A Robotic Xylophone that can play itself using Solenoid, and a MIDI input signal.
Context
We are in possession of a xylophone that has been adapted to be played electronically and remotely. This xylophone was adapted by adding solenoids to be able to control playing electronically. However, the solenoids currently cannot be physically mounted in such a way that sensible playing, and interfacing with external controllers, is possible.
We want to dive into the issues involved with getting a robust and consistent use of solenoids, which probably involves resolving questions like:
- How to mount solenoids for this (or maybe other ways of using the xylophone)
- How to calibrate
- How to interface electronically with external controllers
- And much more.
Results
Anybody can be a musician no matter what kind of music expertise.
