Project description
The goal of our project was to design a digital tool that helps people plan trips centered around escape rooms. We wanted to solve the problem of disorganized planning by offering users a platform where they can easily choose escape rooms, collaborate with friends and generate a travel route, all in one place. The challenge was to make the tool user-friendly and helpful for both individual travelers and groups.
Context
Our project falls within the tourism and leisure domain, with a strong connection to digital travel planning. Many people enjoy visiting escape rooms, but there isn’t a simple way to organize a trip involving multiple escape rooms across different locations. Our tool aims to fill that gap by providing a fun, social and efficient way to plan these trips. We collaborated with a stakeholder in the Netherlands who runs a platform for escape room enthusiasts, which helped us tailor the solution to real user needs.
Results
The outcome of our project is a working prototype of an escape room trip planner. It includes features like route planning on a map, escape room selection, trip sharing with friends and other. Users can access the tool via web or mobile, making it convenient for on-the-go planning. One of the most valuable insights was the strong demand for collaborative planning, many people want to organize trips with others. Our testing showed positive user feedback and validated the usefulness of smart recommendations and integration with Google Maps.
About the project group
Our group consists of students with a background in software engineering and ICT. We worked together over the course of several months, applying both technical and UI design skills learned during our studies. Throughout the project, we held regular meetings, divided tasks based on individual strengths and collaborated closely using agile principles. This approach helped us stay organized and adapt as the project evolved.
