Data Spaces and Smart Data Models

How can the Enexis/municipality neighbourhood energy planning data be transformed into the correct Smart Data Model to enable interoperable data sharing within the EU Data Spaces ecosystem?

Context

The municipality of Eindhoven and energy provider Enexis have their own data format used for sharing energy data. This data format is not standardized or compatible with other municipalities from other countries.

The project goal is to explore and analyse the data provided, transform it into a Smart Data Model format, and provide advice for the future.

Results

The existing situation in terms of interoperability is dire.

Our project results include:

• research into different data standards within data spaces
• exploration & analysis of current dataset & format
• what Smart Data Models are, how to create or extend new ones
• Jupyter notebook that translates, transforms, and splits the dataset into Smart Data Model-compliant sets
• documentation of current situation and deliverables, advice for the future
